Happy (late) Thanksgiving!  I hope it was a good one! I’m grateful for this wonderful season of thankfulness.  It’s been neat seeing so many posts of gratitude with #givethanks- it’s been inspiring and made me happy every time.  The Prophet has promised us an increase in personal peace as we focus on the things we are grateful for.  Above all, I’m thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ.  I’m grateful for his grace and mercy. I am grateful for his patience and compassion.   I’m thankful for the atonement that allows me the opportunity to repent and become more like Him. I know He lives! How grateful I am for Him and the life that I live because of Him.

 Hola a todos!

Another week for the books!  It wasn’t overly eventful, but I do have chicken news.  (I think I’ve turned into a crazy chicken lady- hahaha) First of all, one of my hens laid an egg—finally- been waiting 6 months.  That made me so happy! And, hidden talent, I found out I can put a rooster into a sleep trance.  Not sure that will ever prove useful, but there you go.  I’ll attach a picture as proof. I’ll miss my investigators and my chickens from this area when I am transferred!  (no news of that yet). 

This week as missionaries, we had the opportunity to hear a devotional for all the missionaries in the world given by Elder and Sister Bednar. It was straight fire!  It was really neat…he took a couple of scripture stories and taught us about patterns of revelation.  He emphasized that there are many, many patterns of revelation.  Revelation is any way that God communicates to His children.  The pattern that really called my attention was found in 1 Nephi 4:6 &7. 

“And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.  Nevertheless, I went forth…”

It’s what Elder Bednar called, “Be Good and Go!”  That’s super applicable to missionaries, and to all members of the church, and to all friends of every faith.   The Lord asks us something so simple: Be good and GO.  Don’t overthink it so much.  I love something my mom says to me, “Trust the plan, work the plan.”  The Lord will always be with you and use you to do good if you will BE good and Go.  I’m going to keep that in my mind this week when I feel like there’s too much to do or that I’m not enough to do it all.  I know He is aware of you,

Hola a todos!

 

While this week wasn’t overly eventful, but I learned a lot, which is a good thing!  Sadly, all of our investigators that were on date aren’t anymore—they’ve ghosted us (mission lingo for they’ve disappeared) That’s a hard thing as a missionary because you want so much for them to welcome Christ into their lives and take the steps that lead to happiness. But it’s okay, the Lord knows what He’s doing so either we’ll get back in contact with them, or we’ll be led to others who are ready.  In General Conference we learned, “Let God Prevail,” so we are trying to do that and just be faithful!

My companions, Hermana Porray and Schmidt are awesome, and I really love them. With the English Sisters also living in Tia’s home, there are  6 sister missionaries under one roof, so you can imagine, always a party and I’ve always got a project. (which sometimes saves me from the party when I need it!)

 

It finally got colder here and I’m acclimating to that temperature change again- but I like mixing it up and am ready for cooler temps.

A thought for this week, how’s your study going of the challenge our Prophet gave us during the last general conference? I’d love to know your insights; it’s something I’m trying to study.

 It was a good week in Mesa, aside from the fact that it got hot again haha, pero allí vamos. :) 

Angelique was baptized on Saturday, that was a happy day, and her family is doing well. The other people we had on date have kinda flaked out, but we are gonna go out and round them back up this week! So more on them coming soon.

 I wish I had something more interesting to say.... one miracle this week was that an Elder from my mission in Ecuador showed up in Mesa this transfer! It was so fun to see him and talk to him... he was at home for 6 months. Super neat, and we got so hyped about our area there, Ibarra. :)

 I've been thinking a lot this week about making habits stick...it's something that's always been hard for me! But it's like we learn in Mosiah, right, overcoming the natural man is a long, hard fight. So with that in mind, I'd invite you to consider this week president Nelson's definition of repentance: "change". Okay, think about it for a sec, and now go do something about it! Don't quit it when it doesn't work the first or second or even tenth time. Adjust and pray for help and step back into the ring- go at it some more. I know it isn't easy, that we get tired, busy, bored, distracted, frustrated, lazy, etc. But that process, that tenacity to fight for change that in this moment you might not even be able to believe will ever come about, is applying Christ's blood, his Atonement, on the daily. And it is important and doable (with Him) and it brings so much joy. I'm in the middle of a few natural man fights myself at the moment (well, we always are) and I can promise you that even when it's hard to understand (because right now I don't feel successful either, and the change really is imperceptible) it is absolutely the purpose of this life and exactly what Heavenly Father wants for you. So get on your knees...again...and reset. That's the word for me this week, I'm just going to try my very best and everyday, or hour if need be, I'm going to RESET and give it my next best effort. Hope you'll join with me this week and focus on how we can CHANGE to be more like Christ.

Hello, it has been a rather uneventful week...but hey, no news is good news right? We are still trying to focus on finding people in our area. However we have found and been able to send lots of really great referrals to other missionaries. 

We caught a scorpion in a jar and kept it alive for awhile by feeding it live spiders that we caught haha, that was pretty interesting. We named her Scarlett. :) Unfortunately we left her jar in our car while we taught a lesson and she died from the heat. So we are going to have to catch a new one, because the elders tell us if you put a scorpion in a ring of fire, it will sting itself, and we are kinda curious about that. I will let you know if that is fact or fiction as soon as I know. 

Anyways, I don't have a ton of time this week, but thank you for your prayers and support and encouragement and sweet emails, it is a strength to me!
