Hola mis amigos! All is well here in sunny AZ where January is hotter than it has any right to be. :) I'm doing well and finally out of quarantine, which is a great blessing and I pray that it is my last! I got a new companion, Hermana Kunz from Utah, and she is the sweetest girl I have ever met. I still have Hermana Conley, and with the both of them I feel super blessed. We are picking up the work again in our area and are super busy, which also makes the time fly. We like that. :)
This week we had the opportunity to hear from our southwest area presidency in a Stake conference (a leader of our church in a special meeting:). Something he said really hit home: "Suffering is mandatory. Misery is optional." He went on to explain that oftentimes people equate life's struggle to mean the absence of God's love or even the absence of a supreme being. That isn't true! Suffering does not come from Him, but sometimes He allows it for our good. We once explained that to an investigator like a child whose parent takes him into the doctor to get a shot. It does not please the parent that the anxious child must be poked with the needle, neither is it at the parents hand, however a good parent allows the "suffering" to occur only because his greater wisdom and love for his child tells him that this will be for his good. And that good would have been worth every sacrifice. So what shot is life giving you today?:) Make sure to not confuse the doctor for the parent. Suffering is mandatory, misery is optional. While the shot still hurts, the parent, your Heavenly Father is right beside you, waiting and eager to hold you hand, dry your tears, and hold you close when it's over, and he has the lollipop behind his back. That is the blessing waiting for you if you trust Him!
I'm trying to keep that in mind, to be humble enough to see the shots for what they are, and to ask for more of His comfort and help like the scripture states: " and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." (Mosiah 3:19) He is there, He loves you. I love you too, thanks for taking the time to read my weeklys

I didn’t write last
week because there wasn’t a whole to report from 2 very long weeks in Quarrantine. Yep, quarrantined again with companions who
have been down with Covid- I’m feeling really blessed to have stayed healthy
every time I have had to quarrantine- and my companions are now doing great. I’m super excited to be OUT and ready for this
new transfer. Sister Conley and I have a
new companion, Hermana Kuntz, and we are moving to a new home as a trio, but
keeping our same area. So there’s lots to
do and I’m ready for it.

Christmas was simple, but wonderful! I felt so blessed to be able to talk to my family on Christmas. Hope your holidays were happy as well. Now we are coming up on my favorite holiday ever: New Years! There’s something so fun about a new year full of new starts and possibilities. Set some goals and enlist the help of Him who makes all fresh starts possible. He will help you in all of your spiritual and temporal pursuits.
I read this quote by Neal A. Maxwell that I haven’t been able to forget; “None of the divine data given to us about the Father and the Son are provided merely to give us an interesting theological backdrop for our mortal musings. The revelation of Jesus Christ is so much more relevant and demanding of us than that. That quote is from the book , Even As I Am, which refers to Christ’s instruction to us in the Bible to become like He is: perfect. We won’t attain that in this life (NOT EVEN CLOSE!) but we sure can try.
If you aren’t sure, read 1 Nephi !7:50-51 and substitute your New Year’s Resolution like this: “And I said unto them: If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done. And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should….________________”
The Lord loves effort and He loves helping us achieve our worthy goals. After all, the point of the plan is progress. I’ll be praying for you!

Wow, Christmas is this week! Thats crazy. Time really flies. I hope this week will be one full of family and friends and Christmas magic! It really is such a special time of year, and if 2020 has taught us anything, it's that we take many of our blessings for granted and we are so very very blessed! I hope you can see His hand in your life, and I pray you will be His hands for those around you in this time of year where it is so easy to love.
It's a good thing if my week is so busy that this email is super short, right? Keeping busy- grateful for this work! Love to each of you!
